Camp Activities

Activities at additional needs camps include ropes courses, waterfront activities, and even archery. Working with campers with additional needs can be challenging, but you'll have lots of support from your group of counsellors. It's always rewarding to see campers overcome their challenges and fears - especially when they have such limitations.

Do I get training prior to my placement at an additional needs summer camp?

You will complete an induction week at camp before campers arrive, where you’ll receive training to help you feel confident and prepared in your role. While training varies between camps, it usually includes guidance on responding to different camper situations, behaviour management and intervention techniques, personal care training where relevant, plus general camp orientation and program specific preparation.
